There are two new members on the Rippey city council. At their Sept. 5 meeting, mayor Dan Brubaker appointed Kyle Cummings to fill the seat previously held by Donnie Carpenter and Shannon Lawrence for the position held by Rick Liebich.
The appointees will fill the council seats until the Nov. 7 election. To continue, they must file nomination papers and place their names on the ballot.
Only one bid was received for the rental of the old fire station. Dan Brubaker offered $505 per month plus utilities. He offered to fix the overhead door previously damaged, repaint the doors and replace the locks. The council approved the offer.
The RAGBRAI® committee conducted a final wrap up meeting with mayor Brubaker. They were pleased with the response in Rippey and complimented everyone for their hard work, especially Brubaker. Things went well and were organized.
Several projects have been delayed due to the extreme heat. The removal of ash trees and installation of new playground equipment will be completed with cooler weather. The new ADA swing-set will be installed once the old metal slide is removed and ground work completed. 0
